Registration for after-school activities is now closed. All groups are filled with additional students on waiting lists. Parents will be notified if space opens up. After our vision screening last week, letters will be mailed out for students whose results indicate that some follow-up is needed. Be on the lookout for your child’s letter by the end of the week. Please note that not all students will receive a letter. The last day to sign up for After-School activities is Thursday, Sept 1. The signed permission slip must be turned in by the end of the school day. Roosevelt has a new BOOK VENDING MACHINE! It is located just inside the front entrance doors and is stocked with great books for all reading levels. Cash doesn’t work in this machine; it takes special tokens that students can earn for good behavior, accomplishments, etc. Students will also be able to trade in Bear Bucks for Book Tokens. The next time you stop by the school, take a look at this new addition to RCA. ¡Roosevelt tiene una nueva MÁQUINA EXPENDEDORA DE LIBROS! Está ubicado justo dentro de las puertas de entrada principal y cuenta con excelentes libros para todos los niveles de lectura. It’s time for OPEN HOUSE at RCA! Parents/guardians are invited to visit your student’s classroom on Thursday evening, August 25 between 5 and 6 p.m. You’ll be able to meet the teacher, see some of your child’s work and get information about special programs happening at the school. We will have used Chromebooks for sale for $30 each. Since these are older models, updates will no linger be provided. Newer games and programs may not be supported on these devices. Order forms for RCA Spirit Wear—t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies—are being sent home today. Shirts with the RCA Logo can be worn any day of the week but are not required. If you would like to purchase any of these items, please fill out the form and return it with payment by Friday August 26. No checks, please, but you can pay by card in the front office. School Supplies: RCA saves you the trouble of shopping for your student’s school supplies by charging a fee of $40 per student for the ENTIRE school year. All you have to provide is a backpack. Thank you to all the families who have already paid the fee. If you have not paid yet, please stop by the office to pay (card or cash) or to set up a payment plan as soon as possible.

Meet the Teacher Day! Join us today, Monday, August 8 between 1:30 and 3:30. We will have Food Trucks, Shave Ice, a Bouncy House, Face Painting, and a T-shirt giveaway. Please park only on the street or in the church parking lot across the street.

The Office at Roosevelt Charter Academy will be closed on Friday, August 5. All staff will be off-site for training. We hope to see parents and students on Monday, August 8 between 1:30 and 3:30 for Meet the Teacher Day!

It’s time for Returning Student Check-in! This week, Tuesday – Thursday (July 26-28), parents and guardians are asked to stop by the school between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to update information and fill out a few forms for the ’22-’23 school year. This process will take about 15 minutes per student. Parents need to be prepared to pay the $40 school supply fee with cash or card at this time. If that is not possible, we can also arrange a payment plan. THANK YOU for helping us get ready for a great school year at RCA!

Remember...Summer School is still going on this week. We'll finish up on Friday, July 22.

For the ‘22-’23 school year, parents and guardians will once again have to fill out an application form in order for students to receive free lunches. Lunches will NOT be automatically provided for all students this year. The online application is now available, in English and Spanish, at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application/TermsOfUse#. We have computers in the Front Office that can be used to fill out the application. Paper applications will be available in the near future.

NO-STRESS SCHOOL SUPPLIES! At RCA you don’t have to worry about shopping for your child’s school supplies. We have everything they’ll need except a backpack. All we ask is a payment of $40 per student to cover the whole year. Please be ready to make this payment (cash or card) during our Student Check-in days, July 26-28.

NEWS FROM THE RCA OFFICE: --Starting today, July 12, the RCA office will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. --Parents of returning students are asked to come to the school July 26-28 to update information and fill out a few forms for the ’22-’23 school year. --The ’22-’23 school calendar can be found at https://www.rca-csprings.com/page/school-year-calendar --Please be sure your student is up to date on vaccinations. If you received a letter about missing shots, make an appointment to get those done as soon as possible. Your updated shot records can be turned in to the health office at any time.

Roosevelt Charter Academy is offering a 5th Grade Bridge Program for students who have just completed 5th grade. This will run in conjunction with our Summer School from June 6th to 24th, Monday-Friday, 7:45 am - 12:00 pm. The program includes free breakfast and lunch, work on reading and math skills, and a choice of enrichments. Please inquire in the front office for registration forms.

REMINDER: RCA still has school next week! Kinder and 5th Grade students will start summer vacation after their graduation ceremonies on Monday, May 23. First through Fourth grade will have classes Monday through Wednesday with a 3:30 dismissal each day. Vacation starts on Thursday May 26.
